Terms for God in Indonesian and Malay: A Sociolinguistic Study of Form, Meaning and Reference

Native speakers of Indonesian and Malay use various words for God, depending on their background. The aim of this study is to answer the following questions:

1) What terms for God are used in Indonesian and Malay involving a variety of backgrounds and contexts?
2) How are terms for God used and understood in Indonesian and Malay, is there a difference in usage and understanding depending on background and context, and if there is, how are these terms used and understood differently?
3) Why are terms for God in Indonesian and Malay used in a particular way and, if used differently depending on background and context, why does usage and understanding differ?

On this website results of this research will be published. Besides that it will give access to old Scripture translations, links to new translations and other relevant publications.
